The Curious Case of High-Profile Conservatives Against Boycotts

The public boycotts have been mounting, justifiably and encouragingly so, against organizations that insist on supporting immoral thought and behavior either directly or indirectly.

First it was Target, after they announced that their bathrooms and fitting rooms would be open to “transgender” persons. Then it was Shakespeare in the Park, depicting what a Trump assassination would look like if interpreted along the lines of Julius Caesar. It has culminated with the NFL and its insistence that players be allowed to disrespect our national anthem and Old Glory. Continue reading

Trump’s Right. Boycott the NFL.

Trump is craftier than most people are willing to admit. Behind the veneer of feeble language – which some misjudge as evidence that he is an imbecile – he demonstrates a proclivity for playing both sides of the political spectrum. Yet, even with that astuteness, he often manages to proclaim the truth which many wish to omit or cowardly desist from speaking out loud. It is in this vein that Trump has effectively given voice to what many are thinking about professional sports, their ignorant athletes and their sanctimonious and ignorant public stances.

During a campaign rally for incumbent senator Luther Strange in Alabama, Trump deviated off-script (as he often does) to loquaciously appeal to the attendees’ patriotism by denouncing the NFL’s tolerance for its players kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner. (Do remember that this entire charade was commenced by Colin Kaepernick, the now unemployed quarterback who latched on to the racist Black Lives Matter motif in an attempt to self-servingly salvage his career.) It Has Become Us Versus Them

When the CEOs of abusive corporations decide to moralize to the rest of the country, you know you’ve got an irony problem. When reprobates who perform insignificant tasks for obscene amounts of money, such as professional athletes, actors and musicians, condescendingly sermonize and harp on about their supposed virtue, you know you’ve got an irony problem.

This hypocritical puffery is what most Americans have been increasingly exposed to throughout the past 50 years. It’s probably hit its peak, proven by how brazen those that lecture us have become about what they lecture us on and how.

Case and point and the latest examples: Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, Hollywood elites during the Emmys and Colin Kaepernick. Continue reading

How to Debate False Teachers Pt.2

Some time ago I published the beginnings of an exchange between myself and a local pastor who’s individual’s Facebook post sought to normalize the idea that the Christian ought to self-censor the truth and refrain from joining a “faction in defense of an ideal”. To Biblical Christians who are familiar with Jesus’ character and teachings, such notions are not only ridiculous but an affront to Christ and his commands.

I promised at the end of that article to publish the subsequent debate with the intention of demonstrating to the brethren who wish to confront the demagogues in our midst what they ought to expect when doing so. Continue reading

Don’t be Fooled: Trump Wants Amnesty for the Dreamers!

Unfortunately, it took Trump almost eight months to announce that he would rescind Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), even though he promised on the stump to do so on the first day he took office. While many within his base are celebrating, I, for one, am piqued due to the fact that Trump is signaling that he essentially supports amnesty for the so-called “Dreamers” (how’s that for a political euphemism?). An explanation is in order. Continue reading

How to Debate False Teachers

It is a rather atrocious sight, the amount of false teachers and the seditious lies they propagate from various pulpits. Worse still are the amounts of congregants who consume their untheological and illogical ramblings, disguised as profound spirituality and philosophy. Therein lies an essential aspect of the Biblical Christian’s mission: to correct those falsehoods and denounce the messengers which advance them for the sake of helping those who come in contact with the lies they advance.

It was with this attitude that I recently proceeded to write a pointed rebuttal to a series of Facebook posts published by an individual I personally knew, a man whom years ago abruptly left the church my father shepherds due to marital infidelity (so as to evade church discipline), only to resurface some time later as an “ordained minister” and head of a small congregation in the state where I reside. Afghanistan Hearts Trump

It’s almost as if one could foretell what the outcome would be weeks before the announcement was made – Trump would continue the failed policies of the previous administrations regarding Afghanistan. Apparently, the aptly named “swamp” that Trump vociferously claimed he would drain has drained him of any constancy with regards to policy promises. Maybe Steve Bannon wasn’t speaking hyperbolically when he stated that the Trump presidency many voted for was effectively “over”. Continue reading
